Student Work

Ah, college. The good 'ole days when we had no real clients and could brainstorm anything we wanted (with strategic reasoning, of course). Enjoy a few of my favorite projects from my Copywriting class and Advertising Capstone course.

DryBar

Assignment: Consumers view DryBar's services as a luxury. So, turn a blowout into a necessity.

My Idea: When your hair just isn't hair-ing, it can feel like everything is ruined. Don't fear — DryBar is here for the real emergencies.

Tapatío

Assignment: Create an original brand mascot for Taptío hot sauce.

My Idea: We love hot sauce even though it hurts. Maybe...because it hurts. What if their brand mascot was a telenovela-esque bad boy who you keep running back to, no matter the pain he causes?

From there, "Hurts like heaven" was born.

(I lost one of the mockups, but one of my favorite lines was: "You're beautiful when you cry". Ouch.)

Ad a Day

Assignment: Make one ad every day for 30 days. Do not spend longer than 30 minutes on them. Simple.

Capstone: The Bridges Foundation

Assignment: Raise awareness of the non-profit The Bridges Foundation, which gives differently-abled people jobs across Tulsa.

Our Idea: Ability appears where you shine a light. We're changing the narrative.

Fun Fact: Our team won first place in the Capstone course for our campaign.
